For the past 15 years, Four County EMC has been dedicated to nurturing the leadership potential of local high school juniors through the annual Youth Leadership Weekend. From March 15th to 17th, ten juniors within FCEMC’s territory converged at Camp Kirkwood in Watha for an enriching experience. During the three-day event, students actively participated in a range of activities designed to cultivate teamwork, enhance leadership skills, and ignite motivation. They listened to motivational speakers and gained insights into the cooperative business model, enriching their understanding of community service and collaboration. Youth Leadership Weekend is free. The students selected by their schools to attend pay nothing for the event. They also are given the opportunity to apply for a $1,000 college scholarship as well as be nominated by their peers to attend the NRECA Youth Tour in Washington, D.C. and Leadership Camp in the Summer. As one of Four County’s most cherished events to sponsor, plans are already underway for the 2025 edition of Youth Leadership Weekend.
