EDUCATORS, APPLY EARLY FOR BRIGHT IDEAS GRANTS AND A CHANCE TO WIN $100
Teachers who apply for a Bright Ideas education grant by Aug. 15 can win funding for classroom projects – and qualify to win an extra $100. Four County EMC, along with electric cooperatives across the state, are accepting applications for Bright Ideas grants for creative, classroom-based learning projects. The final deadline to apply is September 18. However, teachers who submit a completed application by the early-bird deadline of Aug. 15 will be entered to win one of five $100 gift cards. more

Local Students Celebrate 50 years of N.C. Youth in D.C.
This year, North Carolina’s electric cooperatives sent its largest delegate class to represent the electric co-op community during a weeklong trip to Washington, D.C., called the Youth Tour. Forty-five ambitious and driven high school students visited the Capitol, continuing a co-op tradition now 50 years strong in North Carolina. They joined 1,800 students from across the country to meet federal elected officials, participate in networking events and learn about our nation’s history and the importance of civic engagement. more

Four County EMC Selects Duplin Teacher for Prestigious Kenan Fellowship
Rebecca Brown, a science and social studies teacher at Chinquapin Elementary School, has been named a 2017-18 Kenan Fellow. Her fellowship was made possible through a partnership between Four County Electric Membership Corporation, North Carolina’s Electric Cooperatives and the Kenan Fellows Program for Teacher Leadership at N.C. State University. more
