West Sampson District
Dr. Steve Matthis is a life-long resident of Sampson County and has served on the Four County EMC Board of Directors since 2008. Steve earned his Director Gold Certification through the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA). He received his education from N.C. State University and graduated with a doctorate in education and a minor in animal science. Steve is a farmer and retired educator from Sampson County Community College. He is currently a consultant with Prestage Farms. Steve and his wife Paula have been married 43 years and have a daughter and two granddaughters who live in Minnesota. They attend Rose Hill Baptist Church where Steve serves as a deacon chair. In his spare time, he enjoys creating stained glass, woodworking, boating, and tinkering with his antique sawmill.
