Bertice Lanier

East Pender District

Bertice Lanier was born and raised in the Maple Hill area of Pender County. He has served on the Four County EMC Board of Directors since 1985 and held the office of Vice President from 2007-2021. Bertice earned his Director Gold Certification through the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA). He spent most of his career in automobile sales and over the years, owned two dealerships in the area. Bertice and his brother also built one of the largest sow farms in Onslow County which is now owned by his nephew. He is past president of the Maple Hill Ruritan Club and was one of the original directors on the Maple Hill Medical Center Board. Bertice and his wife, Phyllis, have been married since 1970 and have two children and five grandchildren. They attend Maple Hill Presbyterian Church where Bertice is a past elder and Phyllis is a current elder. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time fly-fishing and oystering.
