Chris Rimel is the son of an electrical lineman and a high school English teacher. An avowed “energy nerd,” he works for FluxPoint Energy, a startup building the first uranium conversion facility in the U.S. in more than 70 years. He formerly worked for GE Hitachi Nuclear in Castle Hayne and for Duke Energy in the Four County EMC territory during Hurricane Florence in 2018. He earned his Credentialed Cooperative Director certificate in 2026 and continues working toward his Director Gold Certification.
He and his wife, a physical therapist, live in Hampstead with their two children, one a Topsail Pirate and the other a South Topsail Elementary Stingray.
A U.S. Army Veteran and Army Reserve soldier, Rimel is approaching 22 years of combined active and reserve duty. He became a company commander on Sept. 9, 2001, and has served in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other locations. He is also a member of American Legion Post 167 in Hampstead.
Rimel holds an MBA from the Georgia Institute of Technology and has completed post-graduate nuclear studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
