Four County Electric Sends Crews to Assist with Power Restoration to Sister Cooperative in Virginia
February 8th, 2010Four County Electric Membership Corporation sent 20 linemen and field crews to assist communities in Virginia (near Charlottesville) that were hit by a snow storm over the weekend.
The men left Saturday morning to help restore power in the hardest hit areas.
Four County EMC's crews will assist Central Virginia EMC, headquartered in Colleen, Virginia serving 35,000 members in fourteen counties. Four County Electric crews are providing manpower as well as trucks and other equipment. Local crews will work in Virginia as long as their assistance is needed.
The deployment of crews is part of a mutual aid that is shared among electric cooperative utilities nationwide to help one another in times of emergency.
Since most electric cooperatives utilize the same engineering and design of line systems, cooperative line crews from other cooperatives are almost interchangeable.
Four County EMC is a Touchstone Energy® Cooperative that serves over 32,000 members in Bladen, Duplin, Pender, Sampson, Columbus and Onslow counties.
