Four County EMC has selected two students to represent the Cooperative at the 2014 Basketball Camps this summer.
Jatya Moore-Peterson, Elizabethtown Middle School and Sterling Thomas, East Arcadia Elementary were selected as scholarship recipients as a result of their excellent application and essay on why they wanted to attend basketball camp. The N.C. State Women's Basketball Camp for girls will be held June 23-26 at N.C. State University and the Roy Williams Basketball Camp for boys will be held June 21-25 at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
These scholarships will provide a fantastic way for Jatya and Sterling to experience life on a college campus and learn from mentors at their favorite NCAA athletic programs.
How to Apply for 2015 Basketball Scholarships
Each year, Four County EMC offers basketball camp scholarships for students entering sixth, seventh and eighth grades. One boy and one girl will be chosen each year. Boys are eligible to attend Roy Williams' camp at University of North Carolina at Chapel and girls are eligible to attend the Wes Moore Wolfpack Women's Basketball camp at N.C. State University. All expenses for the overnight camps will be paid for by Four County. Campers are responsible for their own transportation to and from the camp.
Campers will work closely with the college coaches to develop fundamental skills, helping the young athletes perform and excel both on and off the court.
Applicants will be judged on their academics, extra-curricular activities and an essay that must accompany the application. The application process will reopen for applicants January 1 - March 27, 2015.
