Cape Fear Elementary Teacher Honored as "Teacher of the Week"
Four County EMC is proud to announce that local teacher Dr. Chris Wirszyla of Cape Fear Elementary School is being honored on a statewide level as a Bright Ideas Tar Heel Teacher of the Week. Four County EMC nominated Dr. Wirszyla in recognition of his dedication to students and for winning Bright Ideas education grant funding for his project “Sustainability of the School Garden Center.” more



Basketball Camp Scholarships Available for Middle School Students
Four County EMC offers basketball camp scholarships for rising sixth through eighth grade students. Boys may apply for the Roy Williams camp at UNC-Chapel Hill and girls may apply for the Wes Moore Wolfpack Women's Basketball Camp at N.C. State University. Two local students will be awarded scholarships, one for each camp. All expenses for the overnight camps will be paid for by Four County. more

Four County EMC is awarding $19,860 in Bright Ideas education grants to 22 teachers to fund engaging classroom learning projects. More than 4,000 students at schools in Bladen, Duplin, Pender and Sampson counties will participate in Bright Ideas projects funded by Four County EMC this year. more

Time is running out for teachers to apply for grants of up to $2,000 from Four County EMC’s Bright Ideas education grant program. September 18 is the last day educators can submit their applications for a chance to receive funding for creative, hands-on classroom projects. North Carolina’s electric cooperatives, including Four County EMC, are accepting applications for Bright Ideas education grants to fund creative, classroom-based learning projects. The final deadline to apply is September 18, 2015, but teachers who submit their application by the ‘early bird’ deadline of August 14 will be entered for a chance to win one of five $100 gift cards. more

Four County EMC linemen, Jay Willoughby, Randy Anderson, Gregg Mobley and Brett Noble, just happened to be at the right place, at the right time on the afternoon of March 17. These men came to the aid of Mrs. Barbara Matthews at 178 Corinth Church Road in Rose Hill by putting out a grass fire that had spread under her house. more

Four County EMC and North Carolina’s electric cooperatives have pledged nearly $600,000 to the state’s teachers in Bright Ideas education grant funding for the 2013-14 school year and are accepting grant applications beginning April 1. Grants of up to $2,000 will be awarded directly to educators for creative, hands-on classroom projects that would not otherwise be funded.
