Co-op to Discontinue Fridge and Freezer Recycling Program

Getting Rid of that Old Fridge or Freezer? Four County EMC members have until May 9 to schedule a FREE pick up with Appliance Recycling Centers of America, Inc. (ARCA). This will be the last chance for pickup and recycle of your old working secondary refrigerator or freezer under our Fridge and Freezer Farewell program. We’ll also give you $50 to let us properly recycle your appliance.  ARCA, the company that provides the recycling service to Four County EMC is closing its local recycling facility in Morrisville, NC. Friday, May 23 will be the last day for pickups by ARCA to Four County EMC members. http://www.fourcty.org/?p=5&s=88

GRANT AWARDS FROM FOUR COUNTY EMC MAKE DAYS BRIGHT FOR LOCAL TEACHERS
Four County EMC is honoring teachers and celebrating innovation in education this month by awarding $19,860 in Bright Ideas grants to educators in Bladen, Duplin, Pender and Sampson counties. The grants will fund 21 projects that will touch the lives of more than 4,500 local students. more

Four County EMC’s Annual Membership Meeting will be held Monday, October 7, at Duplin Events Center, 195 Fairgrounds Drive in Kenansville. The meeting is open to all Four County EMC members. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. and the program will kick off at 7:30 p.m. more

Four County Electric Membership Corporation has donated 97 fans to facilities that serve elderly citizens. In turn, the agencies give the fans to the elderly who do not have access to fans or air conditioned living. more

Four County EMC Kicks Off Bright Ideas Grant Program
Four County EMC and North Carolina’s electric cooperatives have pledged nearly $600,000 to the state’s teachers in Bright Ideas education grant funding for the 2013-14 school year and are accepting grant applications beginning April 1. Grants of up to $2,000 will be awarded directly to educators for creative, hands-on classroom projects that would not otherwise be funded. Four County EMC’s 63rd Annual Membership Meeting was held on Monday, Oct. 8, at Elizabethtown Middle School gym. Members learned about Cooperative business practices and enjoyed community fellowship and musical entertainment by The Dove Brothers and comical entertainment by David Browning “The Mayberry Deputy”. more
